Young Magic duo, Isaac Emmanuel and Melati Malay first met in Brooklyn, New York, and have been tripping out in the land of electronic daydreams ever since.

Known for their psychedelic, electro pop, Young Magic believes in trying to capture moments in time through their music, focusing on sensations and feelings rather than space, reality, and time. And oh my god does it show. young magic

Young Magic’s second album promises a bigger, bolder electronic sound maintaining the smooth ethereal tone you know and love them for. They’re touring in Aus in November!

Signed onto Carpark Records their first album Melt in 2012 is a dream. Disguised as a soft sound the intricacies in this album are actually quite overwhelming when put in perspective. A lot is going on. Catchy and recorded in various places internationally including Germany, Mexico, Argentina, and Spain to name a few, the instrumental variation in this record almost gives it a tribal quality.

With hazy vocals that come in and out of focus, and odd percussion sounds that tempt the listeners’ curiosity while keeping them grounded by guiding them through their ethereal songs, Young Magic establish fame and fortune with this record. The band have already toured and played all over the world, featuring alongside artists like Doe Paoro, Rioux, Princess Nokia, Purity Ring, Emily Reo, Craft Spells, NXNE Wednesday, and many more, as well as generating remixes by Roland Tings, Teebs, and other experimentalists inspired by their spooky sounds.

Their second album from Carpark Records, Breathing Statues was released on May 6th of this year, and focuses more on singer Melati’s feminine voice. Still as resonate as her male counterpart in the first album, Malay at times adds a sweet hollowness to their electric tracks. The band have maintained the smooth sound that made Melt so popular, but have added more boldness. These days their tone is more pronounced, percussion loud and fast, and the climaxes in their music are more confidently crafted.
